Uppsala University is the oldest university in the Nordic countries, founded in 1477. In the last international evaluation of scientific quality at UU (2011), the research on carbon cycling in inland waters performed by the Biogeochemistry/Climate group at the Department of Ecology and Genetics/Limnology was identified as world leading.
